- Asiatic Lions – The Gir Forest is the only natural locale for Asiatic lions in the world. A brilliant conservation effort have led to an increase in the lion population
- Biodiversity – The sanctuary has a wide variety of flora and fauna, that includes, 400 plant species, 38 mammal species, 200 or more species of birds, and reptiles
- Climate – Generally dry, with temperatures ranging from very hot in the summer to mild in the winter
- Cultural Importance – The region is unique. Local communities such as the Maldharis who have lived with the wildlife for centuries
- Eco-Tourism – Gir National Park attracts tourists for its safari drives, offering them a chance to see lions and other wildlife in their natural domain
