Extremely clear, and dry skies aided by minimal light pollution make Hanle, a perfect spot for astronomical observations, attracting astrophotographers from across the country.

Inference
- Cold Desert Mountains – Hanle is characterized by barren and huge empty lands, temperatures plummet to -20C during the winter
- Altitude – Our high-altitude drive averaged elevations above 13,000 feet, with thin air and we did feel breathlessness
- Changtang Mountains – The region around Hanle is connected to the Changthang plateau, where the mountains are flat topped, high but relatively rounded, just like the Tibetan plateau

| Wildlife and Conservation | Tibetan gazelles, woolly hares, and snow leopards. The sanctuary also supports the critically endangered, black-necked crane |
