We attempted to climb the mildly steep, rugged terrain between Rezang La and Pangong in Ladakh.
Strap your seat belt and be our guest as our Suzuki Jimny showcased the strength of its 4WD system.
My co drivers were driving, an Isuzu D-Max, XUV 700, Tata Harrier, Scorpio N and the Mahindra Thar.

but eventually climbed the completely
broken hill terrain
Inference
- Climb started with 4WD – Hi Range
- The compact SUV powered up the hill with ease, but the challenge intensified as the incline became steeper and the track more treacherous
- Midway, the Isuzu’s trailing cloud of dust smoked the area, making visibility nearly zero and forcing a temporary halt.
- Engaging 4WD Low range to increase torque and traction, ideal for overcoming the slippery, loose rocks.
- With controlled skids and gripping resilience, the Jimny finally conquered the incline
| Distance from Rezangla War Memorial to Pangong TSO | 210 Kms |
| Terrain | Extremely rugged, virtually no road, an SUV driver has to make the road to move |
| Best time to visit | Late August through early October |
| Alert | The height may bring medical emergency due to less oxygen, as AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) may set in to a lot of travelers |
